Writing Strategies in Spanish with Nicole Sanchez 

Join Nicole Sanchez, who will looking in depth at Jennifer Serravallo’s book El libro de estrategias de escritura  in this special full day workshop! El libro de estrategias de escritura takes Jennifer Serravallos Writing Strategies Book and turns it into a complete resource for writing instruction in Spanish. With 300+ strategies, including some specially created just for Spanish-language development, its an ideal resource for dual-language or bilingual classroom teachers as well as for use with emergent bilingual students in mainstream classroom. In this workshop, participants will learn to match methods to purpose throughout this school year as Nicole guides you through assessing individual students strengths and needs, leading goal setting conferences, and following up on goals with conferring and small groups in Spanish language instruction. Nicole will share practical and proven classroom strategies, provide video examples, and lead engaging live discussion. This workshop will be presented in Spanish. The day will end with a 45-minute QA with the book’s author, Jennifer Serravallo.

It is highly recommended that participants have a copy of El libro de estrategias de escritura.



Nicole Sanchez

Nicole is an educator with over 15 years of K-6 experience. She has worked in a variety of school settings (public, charter, and private) both in New York City and internationally, serving a wide range of students. Last fall, Nicole collaborated with Jennifer Serravallo to create videos to support teachers in using the Reading and Writing Strategy books in Spanish. From the start of her career she has been passionate about literacy and bilingual education and has been able to explore those areas as a classroom teacher, curriculum coordinator, vice principal, and most recently as a Spanish literacy specialist. Nicole has spent much of her career working closely with teachers in all stages of their teaching careers to help them learn how to really get to know their students in order to plan and deliver responsive and effective literacy instruction. She is dedicated to collaborating with teachers to develop their craft as educators, and with administrators to make meaningful changes in their literacy programs. Nicole received a BA in Elementary Education and Hispanic Experience from Boston College, where she also obtained a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. She has also received an Educational Leadership Certificate through SUNY Buffalo.
