Alison Rison, Instructional Literacy Coach, works alongside administrators, teachers and instructional coaches to develop campus literacy goals in support of responsive instruction for all learners. Alison collaborates with principals to customize professional development for staff and facilitates district-wide study groups. She has experience leading literacy institutes with an emphasis on launching reading and writing workshop, as well as methods for small group instruction to support a wide array of skill development. She holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction and has worked as a special education teacher, classroom teacher, curriculum writer, adjunct instructor, and literacy specialist. Alison draws on these experiences when partnering with school leaders, teachers, parents and students. Alison is passionate about creating inclusive learning spaces that accommodate individual learning differences.Alison attends Teachers College, Columbia University yearly to study teaching methods, understand the trajectory of reading and writing development and plan curriculum. Prior to becoming an educator, Alison worked as a Staff Assistant in The White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. Alison and her family reside in Dallas.
