​Learning has been my passion since I was a young girl. This passion manifested itself in my love for books, literacy as a basic human right, and led me into the field of education. I am a fourth generation educator with my grandmother starting the first hot lunch food program in the state of Texas while teaching in a one-room schoolhouse. Library books and my grandmother's collection of National Geographic magazines lined my closet as a young girl and now my office houses my collection of first edition books. My hobby is reading and my book club's mission is to read more books outside the national bestseller list than on the list.

I am a mother of three children and have one granddaughter. My children have taught me the most, unconditional love, humility, sheer joy, hope, perseverance, never-say- never, patience, and how learning happens at different times for different people and that is normal. My husband retired as a regional sales director for a brewing company and together we make our family the priority.

My passion lies in challenging, coaching, and guiding leaders to engage in thoughtful discourse and to reach a little further than they are comfortable. In thirty-seven years of education, I have worked in small, medium, and large Texas school districts. I have been a teacher in grades K-8, a lead teacher, started a gifted/talented program prior to being a state requirement, served as an assistant principal, principal, and at central office. My central office experience ranges from ELA coordinator for a day, Director and Executive Director and Assistant Superintendent over curriculum and instruction (all content areas), assessment. professional development, Special Education, Interventions, RtI, instructional materials, counseling, nurses, fine arts, instructional technology, Title I, Federal programs, CTE, and community education.
