I am a teacher. Yes, I’ve had many different titles in my 31 years in education, but to everyone I meet, I let them know I am a teacher. I’ve led convocations, trained thousands of teachers and school leaders, won awards but my favorite thing to do is learn and lead with children. “Is it best for kids? Well, then let’s do it.” is my leadership stance. I know that the only way to truly impact learning is to build relationships with children. Find out their heart, then you can expand their minds. My 31 years in education have involved being a classroom teacher, team leader, Academic Interventionist, Dean of Students, and Principal. I’ve had the pleasure of impacting the lives of thousands of children but I have two that are my very favorites, my girls: Mikayla, 23, a proud Aggie Graduate who is working on her doctorate in Physical Therapy. She is a quiet leader who takes everything she does seriously. Darby, 20, is a proud member of the class of 2024 at Texas A & M. She will be graduating with a degree in marketing/communication. She is my world changer and fights for justice in all she does! My husband, Jeremy, is also a teacher. He leads the bigger kids and helps them recover lost credits and classes. He was the head baseball coach in McKinney for 25 years before stepping away last year. We have been married for 32 years and still love to hold hands and dance in the kitchen. I taught Kindergarten through 4th grade for 20 years in McKinney ISD. I then had the opportunity to move to Lovejoy ISD for 8 years. I served the children and community as an Academic Interventionist for 3 years and Dean of Students of Sloan Creek Intermediate for 5 years. I learned a lot about myself and leadership during these years. I had the pleasure for 8 years to lead one of the largest Leadership groups in a Texas school, 352 students strong. Last two and half years, I worked for TEA and helped a small district restructure its school and make big changes for students. My students and staff just celebrated being one of two schools in Region 10 that grew academically during a pandemic. I love to paint, dig in my flower beds, and be in the water...any type: pool, lake, or ocean. I always get excited about helping children see their full potential and grow as a learners. I can't wait to meet you!
