I served in a variety of roles during my 24 years as a Texas public
school educator. The roles include Elementary Academic Services and
Multilingual Director, Elementary Principal, Elementary Assistant
Principal, Reading Recovery and Descubriendo la Lectura Teacher
Leader, Curriculum Specialist, Lead Reading Teacher, elementary
bilingual classroom teacher and college education department
adjunct professor. I have worked in various public-school settings in my new role as an independent Educational Biliteracy Consultant. I continue to
enjoy opportunities to coach and support educators, especially bilingual
and ESL teachers. While working as a consultant, I have had the
opportunity support Texas public schools in the implementation of
the Texas Reading Academy and research based effective biliteracy practices by providing professional development sessions and on-site administrator and teacher coaching. I also enjoy creating media based professional
learning opportunities for teachers.

In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband and I love to travel and have two adult children, Mariam, and Zak. Some of my favorite hobbies include reading, traveling, and taking art classes.
