I’m a passionate educator who seeks to connect teachers with a vision for high levels of literacy for every learner. I’ve served as a bilingual, dual language and monolingual teacher and leader in grades PreK-5 and my most recent role was as ELAR Curriculum Coordinator in Prosper ISD.

With all of the great changes coming for Texas literacy, I have begun to consult with districts across North Texas to help with implementing new standards and materials while tying them to best instructional practices.

I am passionate about helping district and campus leaders communicate their vision for literacy and to support our amazing Texas teachers in the changing landscape of reading and writing. I have had the privilege to support students with all different needs and skills, and I am especially passionate about supporting differentiation for language learners and gifted students. In the classroom, I worked to view content learning through the lens of 21st Century Skills today’s students will need.

Outside of schools, I love spending time with my immediate and extended family. I have a husband named Armando and two children. Savannah is eleven and will begin middle school this year. We love reading Kate DeCamillo and Kwame Alexander together. Santiago just turned five and is headed to Kindergarten this fall! His favorite books are The Dinosaur Encyclopedia and anything by Dan Santat. My hobbies are community service, hunting for unique children’s literature and spending time in my new garden.
