My background is: Assistant Principal, Educational Support Specialist, 1st grade teacher, 4th grade teacher, Reading Recovery teacher, Master Teacher (K-2), ESL teacher, Literacy Specialist, ELAR Instructional Coach (6-8), Curriculum and Instruction Consultant for Region 10 Education Service Center, and Faculty Instructor for Richland College and Collin College. I have a B.S. from Abilene Christian University, M.Ed. in Reading from Texas A&M-Commerce, and my Principal Certification. I am currently an Ed.D. candidate at Southwestern College in Kansas. I am particularly passionate about Balanced Literacy/Early Literacy instruction. I believe in meeting students where they are and propelling them forward on the cutting edge of their learning while creating a love of learning. Fostering independence and instilling confidence to create life-long learners is paramount. On a personal note, I have been married to my husband, Lee, for 21 years. We have a beautiful 16-year-old daughter, Eden, who will is in the 11th grade. I have completed 7 marathons (5 Dallas White Rock Marathons, 1 New York Marathon, and 1 Chicago Marathon). I ran the New York Marathon to celebrate my 5-year breast cancer-free mark. I am blessed to celebrate 13 years cancer-free this year.
