In twenty-five years as an educator, I have served as a second through fifth-grade Bilingual Teacher, Campus Reading Specialist, Instructional Specialist, Campus Testing Coordinator, and Assistant Principal. I am passionate about coaching and supporting educators and possess a strong content and pedagogy background in Reading, Writing, Math, and Science.
I have trained teachers through the lens of best practices and alignment. I have helped teachers with the adaptation of the ELAR/SLAR, Math, and Science curriculum and resources to meet the needs of all our students. I have experience developing, editing, and updating literacy content to create different versions at lower reading levels, making them accessible for those students that require Content and Language Support. My experience as a Reading Recovery teacher gave me the tools needed to build up students’ literacy foundations in English and Spanish.
I have experienced the implementation of a Blended Learning and Personalized Learning model as a Campus Administrator of a choice school in the Dallas Independent School District. This model emphasizes each student’s strengths, areas of improvement, and personal interests to customize their learning. It also enhances student voice and choice to ensure that all students achieve their maximum potential.
In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three adult children, jogging, and cooking, and I’m looking forward to adding a few more now that I am retired.
