Consulting / Coaching

I spent 32 years in Texas Public Schools in a variety of roles before retiring from full time service in December 2019. Those roles include: self-contained classroom teacher in 1st and 2nd grades, 5th grade math teacher, Mathematics Instructional Facilitator (K-5), and my last 10 years in the role of Elementary Mathematics Coach. During this role as coach my main role was coaching mathematics teachers but I also worked on curriculum writing and alignment, facilitating PLCs and professional development for math teachers in the district. Since retiring, I have continued to work part time supporting teachers and students at an elementary campus and I have also continued my private tutoring business for students in elementary through middle school .

My passion for best practices in mathematics will never fade and I find joy helping others grow as teachers of mathematics. I enjoy working with grade level teams, vertical teams, campuses, and individual teachers. I believe all students can learn math at a high level but teachers must meet students where they are in order to create pathways for their success in learning. My goal as a coach and / or consultant would be to support math educators in order improve their teaching craft that would ultimately impact students to develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, build fluency with procedures, and solve mathematical problems occurring in their daily lives.

Outside of education, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, doing Pilates, cheering on my LSU Tigers and reading. My husband and I have been married for 30 years and we have a daughter (31) and a son (27) that we are so very proud of.
