My 30 years of experience have been focused on literacy, including 10 years as an elementary classroom teacher, and 20 years in staff development and literacy consulting. Since 1997, I have worked with school districts in Texas and across the United States to support various aspects of literacy, with early literacy instruction as a key area of focus. I have a BS in Education and a Reading Specialization from Baylor University, as well as continued training and development in literacy instruction concepts and practices.I have provided customized district and school-based support to help teachers fine-tune their instructional literacy practices. In addition to coaching, I have also facilitated professional learning sessions that include data analysis, collaborative planning, observation and reflection on live demonstration lessons. I believe in solidifying professional learning by linking theory with actual practice.I live in the DFW area with my husband of 30 years. I enjoy trips to Waco to visit my daughter, who is a junior at Baylor University, and spending time in Colorado with my family, hiking and fly-fishing. I also enjoy volunteering at my church as a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School leader.
